[The masquerade was fun enough, but Hans really didn't get the chance to be himself aka an asshole. Even if their identities were supposedly hidden, he wasn't about to risk that magic failing and get caught in the process. Besides, he's not going to go out of his way to ruin someone's fun at a party for no real reason.
So, the letter is a welcome invitation. It's obvious who is responsible for it and Hans finds himself smiling just slightly, a faint look that he's willing to share with just himself. It seems like that he needs to prepare and pick his best outfit for this.
The thought of arriving early certainly crosses Hans's mind, but he actually wants to experience and see what Ferran has in store for him. Of course, he'd never come late, what sort of prince would he be? He may leave a princess to die and almost kill another, but he will definitely show up on time when asked to.
So, when the time draws near, Hans can be seen riding on Sitron as he arrives at the lake.]
[Once Hans nears the lake, he'll see a sturdy wooden table has been set up near the lake on top of an ornate rug, and decorated appropriately: a tablecloth with metallic accents, a vase of several flowers, a pot of tea aside a pitcher of water, and fine cutlery wait atop it for the diners. A large tray stands nearby with serving dishes hidden under metal covers, as well as a basket of raw vegetables that Sitron may find appealing, too.
Ferran himself is dressed in a tailed vest and button up, an expensive-looking pair of dress shoes on despite the fact that they're out in the middle of nature. He's waiting patiently next to the tray, watching as Hans and Sitron come near with his hands folded in front of him.]
[For a brief moment, he wonders how Ferran managed to get all of this out here, but he remembers his abilities. It wouldn't be too much of a hassle if he's able to duplicate objects to the lake, right? But he nonetheless appreciates the gesture, a slight smile crossing Hans's face as he gets off Sitron, patting his horse's head and trying to ignore the heat that builds in his chest.
Since they've started dating, Ferran has gone out of his way to... spend extra care to him. It's what partners do for each other, he knows this, but it doesn't erase the feeling he gets. Hans does his best to hide that, however, and just offers him a small teasing look.]
Fancy that, it's quite a coincidence. [...] You look nice.
[While Hans may be trying to hide feelings, Ferran rarely does, and especially not now—the compliment gives him a bright smile, and a soft breeze with the scent of the beach comes along with it.]
So do you, as always. [He pulls out a chair for his boyfriend, apparently ready to serve for the evening.]
[Top service and top manners?? Hans takes a seat before nodding at Sitron, signaling to his faithful horse to come a little closer. As Ferran correctly guessed, they're both hungry and Sitron can certainly go for a meal after making the trek over here. He wants to be rewarded.]
After reading the promises written on the letter, I came here with a mostly empty stomach.
[Hans knows how to cook now, but he'll always take the opportunity to have other people cook for him. Besides, it's not like he can cook anything too fancy still, unless he's following a recipe to the tee.]
Is all this for that Valentine's Day I've heard about? [That would make the most sense to him. It seems like a big deal to some.]
[Sitron gets his meal first—he deserves it more, after all—and Ferran moves the tray with the basket of vegetables over to him so he doesn't have to stand too close to the table. He gets a few pats for good measure, too, as Ferran replies.]
You can think of it that way. It's just an excuse to put a little more effort in, as far as I'm concerned.
[If he did this kind of thing every day, it would probably get dull. Besides, he knows he wouldn't have the energy, so it's better to space things out. Holidays really are the perfect occasion. But with Sitron taken care of, Ferran moves back to the table to pour Hans a glass of water.]
[Now that he has his own meal, Sitron decides that it's best to leave the two idiots alone. He'll be fine just chewing on his vegetables and watching the cheesy drama unfold.]
Well, thank you, Ferran. It means a lot that you went through such effort for me.
[It's the polite thing to say, an expected response, but Hans doesn't find himself truly forcing such words. He's still not sure where 'pretending to be a good boyfriend' and 'actually enjoying this' begins and ends, but the prince isn't going to really think about it. Probably best to enjoy what's in front of him, and so he smiles upward at Ferran with a gracious smile when he pours him some water.]
[It's probably best if Sitron doesn't bother with them too much... unless he wants to share the hot gossip with the other animals around town or something.
The chuckle that comes through Ferran's grin is clearly pleased; though he still doesn't know when Hans is being completely genuine or just playing his part, the promise of a reward is something he can always appreciate. He puts the pitcher down, moving towards the tea pot.]
You can give me a kiss whenever you want—but I was just about to ask you something similar.
[He rubs the back of his neck, a little self conscious. Getting things for Hans, cooking for him, teasing him... they're all well and good, but he's done something a little different today, too.]
I made you something, aside from the food. Do you want it before or after we eat?
[He raises a hand up to cup Ferran's cheek, an almost fond looking smile forming on his face, even if the prince would say that it's his usual amused one. Can anyone differentiate his expressions from one another? Hans doesn't think about it too much, just focusing on Ferran's own reactions, how he almost looks self conscious about this. It's cute.
The prince wouldn't mind giving him one small kiss before they begin eating.]
I'll have it after we eat. Keep me in suspense.
[He enjoys that feeling every so often. Hans doesn't mind it most of the time when it comes to Ferran.]
[Ferran takes what he gets in terms of Hans's reactions; however fake the prince has been in the past, he knows at the very least that he does want to be here. With Ferran, he has little reason to feign interest where there is none, so in turn he gives his own genuine reactions, leaning into the touch.
The kiss helps, too.]

[He pulls away after that, setting everything in its proper place on the table and serving the main meal from the side tray. It's more of a spread than he's made for Hans before, just in terms of variety: a pot pie to warm up the cool evening, a couple of Hans's favorite sides and a couple of different vegetables, roasted and seasoned the way Hans likes.]
[He doesn't need to be told twice, taking his fork and picking into the meal that Ferran has so generously cooked for him. Hans eats with all the expected manners of a prince, slowly, and wiping his mouth when needed. At times, he gazes over at the lake with a quiet expression, but there's something almost peaceful about him, nearly content. It's not an entirely common sight and one that Hans doesn't really notice that he's displaying.
Guess it's easy to get lost in that feeling when you're enjoying the sights and food.
After a few minutes of companionable silence, with Hans still working on his meal, he looks at his partner with a slight smirk, finally breaking that earlier sereneness.]
...Tell me, Ferran, have you dated before? [He's not asking out of jealousy, really, just curiosity.]
[Ferran also takes the opportunity to enjoy his own work as well as the company and the view—while he primarily sorted everything out for Hans's sake, he won't deny himself the reward as well, and his eyes are on Hans and the lake as often as his food. His manners might not be quite as impeccable as the prince's, but that doesn't mean he doesn't strive for his own level of proper politeness.
He finishes a sip of his water before answering, but there's an obvious level of ease in his response—he's happy to be here, to do all this, and just as happy to answer the question.]

[He'll be so wounded if Ferran says otherwise... Hans's smile turns into a familiar smirk, always in the mood for teasing others, especially Ferran. At least his jabs are more on the lighthearted side, compared to actually trying to harm someone now. Honestly, those sort of thoughts haven't entered his mind, not recently. At his point, he's not sure what he would betray Ferran or the others over.]
Or do I have to bribe you with a few more kisses by the end?
[Ferran lets out a chuckle in response, turning the teasing back to Hans like it's just a natural part of the conversation.]
Are you the jealous type? [He puts his glass down, leaning forward with his elbows on the table just to watch the prince's expression.] I'm not above taking a bribe, but I can't promise I'll give you a number... I don't usually kiss and tell, you know.
[Hans is definitely the jealous type and he's not quite sure if he should admit it or not, so for now, the prince just answers Ferran's question with a small twitch of his smirk, not confirming or denying anything.]
Sounds like I'll have to be very convincing. [He can make a game out of this, why not? Besides, Hans is a little curious to know.] And don't doubt that I have my own means ensuring the answer that I want.
[It's easy enough to see that twitch even in the dim light with how closely Ferran is watching, and he can't say it would be a surprise if his guess was right on that end. Hans doesn't have to say it for him to get that answer... at least, eventually.]
Oh, really? I'm looking forward to seeing those means. [He sits back again, seeming relaxed despite, or maybe because of, the pseudo-threat.]
